Food Finds 2026 – Part 1
We’ve found some great eats across our town so far in 2026. In this 2-part series, we will share our top favourites from each of our 7 Divisions.
One of the great perks of working in Our Tanjong Pagar has been the sheer number of excellent food spots we were able to find.
We hunt for food around town frequently, and the first half of 2026 has been an extremely rewarding period for us. In fact, the toughest thing about writing this series of food reviews has been to narrow our recommendations down to just one per Division.
You’ll likely see the others later in the year. But for now, here are the first four absolute must-share eats we found between January and June 2026 – by order of discovery.
Neighbourwok
Moulmein-Cairnhill
This is a hugely popular Hokkien Mee stall from Bukit Batok, and we are overjoyed for our residents when we heard they just opened a branch in a kopitiam near Pek Kio Market.
Hokkien Mee is comfort food for many Singaporeans, and Neighbourwok absolutely delivers on that front. The extremely slurpable noodles had gentle textures and a pronounced yet mellow savouriness which more than made up for the lack of a strong wok hei. The tasty sambal was also not too spicy, making the eating experience even more comforting.
But Neighbourwok doesn’t just serve very capably prepared Hokkien Mee. They are also known for their great satay. This is a combo of offerings we’ve never seen before from a single stall, so of course we had to give it a try.
We ordered chicken, pork and mutton satay – which were all marinated and grilled well. Though the skewers looked to be on the small side, they were all satisfyingly juicy and meaty – complemented nicely by a thick, savoury peanut sauce.
Whether you enjoy the Hokkien Mee and satay together (they pair unexpectedly well) or separately, we’re sure you will walk away happy.

Al Mubin Food Court
Queenstown
This is part of a chain of halal eateries with more than 10 outlets islandwide.
Its Queenstown outpost is in a kopitiam format, and all its stalls are Muslim-friendly. There is a wide variety of food including ayam penyet, Indian rojak, Western food, chicken rice and nasi kandar.
Due to limited stomach capacity, we could only order a few of the items available.
The garlic naan was fluffy, chewy, and generously perfumed with garlic. We really enjoyed it together with the tender, smoky, thigh meat chunks and rich gravy of the butter chicken. You should be aware, though: this butter chicken is a little on the sweet side.
We also liked the masala chai, with a subtle spice flavour that was just right.
The big star of this meal, however, was the nasi kandar. The big platter of rice with ayam bawang, spinach, deep-fried bitter gourd, sambal egg and onion raita was a veritable feast. The flavours were on point and everything was cooked just right. According to our resident Penangite, this was as good a nasi kandar as you’d be able to find without flying to Penang.
Having thoroughly enjoyed this meal, we’re looking forward to returning to try the other dishes they offer. Maybe we’ll see you there!

Tina’s Cafe
Tanjong Pagar - Tiong Bahru
Be it brunch, lunch, tea, early dinner or sweet indulgences – Tina’s Cafe is the warm, comfy local joint that will satisfy your cravings. Your heart will feel even more warmed when you read the prominent placard that reveals the cafe is named after the owner’s mum.
It appears Mummy Tina has a wide culinary repertoire, as there is an extensive menu that includes all-day breakfast items such as bacon & eggs, hearty dishes like nasi lemak, as well as cakes, sandwiches, waffles and more.
The most intriguing menu items for us, though, were the orh nee butter toast and orh nee pandan waffle. They did not disappoint: the cold butter and creamy yam paste created an interesting textural and temperature contrast against warm, crunchy toast or waffle. The flavours also worked well together – mostly sweet, with a hint of savoury.
The hazelnut brownie was a small, dark square that we thought was too small a serving. But it was so rich and fudgy that we realised any more would have been too much.
Another interesting item was the vegan chocolate mud cake. Despite it being vegan, it was still satisfyingly chocolatey and creamy, with a pronounced fragrance of coconut cream. Lovers of decadent desserts would not feel short-changed eating this one; yet it was so light and moist that the large wedge of cake we were served disappeared in record time.
Finally, we got luncheon meat fries. These thick-cut batons were fried nicely, with thin crispy crusts encasing juicy meat – a welcome salty break after all those sweet treats.
Like the food, they don’t skimp on ingredients with the drinks – reinforcing the feeling that we were not eating in a restaurant, but being served a meal full of a mother’s warmth. This alone makes it worth supporting this beloved local cafe. Hope you’ll drop by soon!

Geometry Gelato Cafe
Henderson-Dawson
This bright, friendly cafe is located close to the popular Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre, at City Vue @ Henderson.
This is our favoured location because we felt it is quieter and less crowded than the main outlet at Queenstown.
Entering the air-conditioned coolness of the cafe on an especially hot afternoon, we homed in directly on the gelato display cabinet and ordered 3 scoops on a waffle.
The waffle was freshly made to order – soft and fluffy with a crunchy crust, one of the better ones we’ve had for sure.
Topping the waffle were three generous, densely-packed scoops of gelato: chocolate, pistachio, and goji-chrysanthemum. The first two are fairly conventional flavours, executed to a very, very high standard. Deeply flavourful and rich with a beautifully creamy mouthfeel, they can absolutely stand up against offerings from the best gelaterias in Singapore.
The third was just as well-made, but had the added excitement of a flavour we had never encountered before. Goji berry and chrysanthemum paired very well, with a refreshing and light flavour that was more floral and fragrant than outright sweet – perfect for a hot day.
If you live around the area, or are in the neighbourhood, do come by to visit. It’s a lovely spot to work, study or simply hang out with a good book and an ice-cold treat.
