A look ahead at Tanjong Pagar Town’s bold five-year plan to develop an inclusive, sustainable home with heart
We are charging full speed ahead to bring our exciting vision for our town to life. Let’s peek into the future together at what’s in store for our residents!
2030 is a major milestone for Singapore, with many developmental and sustainability initiatives being targeted for completion in that year. At Our Tanjong Pagar, we have similarly ambitious plans to continue upgrading and improving our town between now and 2030. Let’s check out the exciting developments coming your way in the next five years.
HAPPENING 'HOODS
Probably the most visible and exciting part of the plan is the Remaking Our Heartland (ROH) Programme. It aims to transform our neighbourhood centres and residential areas with revitalised shops, better and greener public spaces and improved connectivity through roads and public transport services. Better yet, these developments will be thoughtfully designed to preserve and celebrate each neighbourhood’s unique identity and history.
A great example of this is the redevelopment at Farrer Park. New and existing HDB blocks will be enhanced with a running track, multi-purpose playfield, new swimming complex and gym in homage to the area’s rich sporting heritage. These are in addition to necessities like shops, childcare centres, a supermarket and a park to meet the needs of a vibrant community.

GREENER LIVING
Another area we’re looking forward to is our sustainability initiatives. In the next five years, we will continue to expand our efforts to reduce our energy consumption, waste generation and carbon footprint.
We will be progressively switching to LED smart lights which use up to 60% less energy, installing Elevator Energy Regeneration Systems (EERS) that cut elevator energy consumption by about 20%, and employing big data to optimise our estates’ electricity usage.
We will also continue to grow our SolarNova Programme, installing solar panels on HDB rooftops to power shared amenities like water pumps, lights and elevators. We can even channel any surplus electricity back into our power grid. We expect to have up to 58,000 solar panels installed by 2030.
To help combat rising temperatures, we will be painting HDB blocks with Cool Coatings paint that reduce heat absorption from the sun, and continue to plant more trees as part of our nationwide goal to plant 1 million trees by 2030. Experts have estimated that these efforts will lower temperatures by up to 2°C in our estates.
You can also expect more specialised recycling facilities and EV charging points which make it easier for you to waste less and enjoy greener journeys.

HEALTHIER LIFESTYLES
Speaking of greener journeys, avid cyclists can look forward to 82km of new cycling paths to be added across Tanjong Pagar Town by 2030. We also plan to add active lifestyle nodes along the Rail Corridor. One was recently completed at Buona Vista, and more are coming up at Queenstown and the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station.
To support our residents in living longer, healthier, more active and meaningful lives, we are developing a state-of-the-art Health District at Queenstown. This one-stop centre will bring healthcare practitioners from multiple disciplines together in one location to make holistic, blended health and social care more accessible to residents of all ages.
HOMES TO BE PROUD OF
Naturally, our plans include the important work of continuing to upkeep and upgrade homes across our town.
We’ve identified 239 blocks for the Repair & Redecoration Programme (R&R), 40 blocks for the Home Improvement Programme (HIP), and 42 blocks for the Lift Enhancement / Replacement Programme (LEP / LRP).
These will be complemented by Neighbourhood Renewal Programmes (NRP) at over 60 locations and nearly 50 new or enhanced covered linkways, ramps, pick-up / drop-off points, shelters and pedestrian-friendly roads – creating comfortable homes and accessible neighbourhoods we can all enjoy together.
Beyond enhancements, we will also welcome new neighbours with 10 new BTO developments across our town.

MORE DETAILS AT OUR EXHIBITION
That was a long list, but it’s not all! We unveiled the full plan at our 5-Year Plan Exhibition at Redhill Market on 2 February 2025.
Throughout the rest of February 2025, the exhibition will be touring each of the six divisions in Our Tanjong Pagar to share specific development plans for those divisions. Be sure to check out our map for the location of the next exhibition within the Town.

Couldn’t make it to the exhibitions? Here are what some of your fellow residents had to say about the 5-Year plan.
“The estate is old, so it is good to upgrade. The [team behind the upgrades] is doing a good job.” – Gary Tay
“[It is] good that [the plan] is upgrading old estates.” – Lim Veck Hong
Elsie Tay noted the new facilities being built for the elderly, especially the new nursing home facilities, saying, “I think it’s good that [Tanjong Pagar] is becoming more elderly friendly and vibrant!”
“To me, this 5-year plan is a good thing.” – Ben Tay
You can also see the full plan on our website.
We are extremely excited about what’s coming to Our Tanjong Pagar – and can’t wait to see the plan come to life over the next five years. We believe it will make our town the talk of the… well, town – and make you proud to be a resident here!
